Shutter Down Series Vol. 14 – Derick Leduke

Project Barley is proud to present Vol. 14 of our Shutter Down Series. This is a listening room, intimate singer-songwriter showcase. Decembers Showcase will begin with local legend Mike Longacre supporting the show with 3 songs to tease you for his upcoming Shutter Down January 27.  Our featured Artist Derick Leduke is a 21-year-old guitar & singer virtuoso and singer-songwriter.

 His roots started here in the South Bay, now based in Nashville, TN. Blending raw musicality with a powerful voice and magnetic stage presence, Derick has carved out a style all his own — deeply inspired by legends like Billy Joel, Jim Croce, and John Mayer, and heavily shaped by his biggest influence, Australian fingerstyle icon Tommy Emmanuel.

He picked up the guitar at age 12, learning songs in his bedroom and falling in love with the one-man-band style of performance. By 15, he was street performing on the Santa Monica promenade. From 17 to 20, he played hundreds of bar and wedding gigs across LA, including Project Barley Redondo Beach; the first venue to give him a shot playing full length performances.

As Derick’s success and reputation grew, so did a deeper calling. In late 2024, Derick left the comfort of LA — suddenly driving across the states in his Chevy van, his vision, and a fresh start before him. He hustled, gigged, built genuine connections, and shared the journey online. Within months, he was on tour across the East Coast and Midwest, opening for Australian guitar phenom Kyran Daniel with a bold, original set that marked his official launch as a recording artist.

Now based in Nashville, Derick is focused on writing, recording, and bringing his unique sound to audiences around the country — one stage, one story, and one person at a time, and is returning to LA for a series of performances during the holiday season.
